T-Tanks by Lay
Author: DJA couple of months ago I posted about T-shirts designed by Lao rapper, Lay. Well, guess what? Lay sent me some cool T-Tanks and I’ve been wearing them the last couple of weeks in Kansas. The design is very Lao and any Lao girl would look cool wearing one of his T-Tanks. They come in various colors and sizes.
Thinking of you at the top. That Luang Vientiane, Laos at the bottom.

My favorite color is blue so here is a close up of the hot T-Tank.

Pretty in pink.

I wore the black one on the farm with the Lao Cook Hat. LOL.

Home on the prairie
Author: DJWhen we were told by the administrators at the refugee camp in Thailand we would be sponsored by a non-profit organization in Kansas, we had no idea where Kansas was located at. After checking the map of U.S.A, we looked at each other and said it’s going to be a cold winter in Kansas.
You’re in Kansas.

When I think of my home state, TV show like “Little House on the Prairie” or the song “Home On The Range” came to mind. Even though I have spent more time in the city than in the country, I have to confess that I prefer the open space, fresh air, peace and quiet (no neighbors for miles).

I was happy staying in the country. With satellite dish and internet access, the world was at my fingertips. Doing chores like cutting the grass or feeding the horses were more like play time for me. Cutting the grass was my way of getting a good tan.
There’s no feeling like driving down the dirt road and blasting the music as loud as you can get.

How do I feel about the life on the farm?
“O give me a home where the buffaloes roam
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day”

Don’t get me wrong, there are more to Kansas than just cows and sunflowers. We’re not that backward you know. ![]()

Author: DJThis week is National Singles Week (September 18 - 24). I really like this song. If you have ever felt like this, then you will understand this song. It is from a Thai band by the name of Calories Blah Blah.
Home Sweet Home
Author: DJI made it back home safe and sound. I’ve been so busy the first couple of weeks that I didn’t have time to update my blog. Now I have less than two weeks left before I head back to the Netherlands.
I couldn’t sleep last night and thought about many things. I don’t want to go back but I know I have to finish my study. I don’t want to live at home either. It’s too crowded and too noisy here. Sometimes I just want to be left alone.
I’ve been busy with attending family events and have not been out much. Last night was the first time I went out to eat at a restaurant with my friends. So far, I’ve only been to the Kansas City - City Market and The Country Club Plaza.

With only two weeks left it looks like I won’t be able to visit my auntie in the OC. My parents suggested I should extend my visit for another week. I thought about it but as of last night I think it would be best to just go back as scheduled. Having another week will not matter. I’ll spend the last two weeks cleaning the house from top to bottom like I always do every time I come home.
Last night my mother told me if I want to go to Portland to visit my aunts then she’ll send me. I don’t think I’ll do that. I don’t want to bother my relatives, especially at the last minute. I’ll just stay home, cook and clean and make my parents happy for the rest of my visit.
Last dinner in Holland
Author: DJThe night before I left for the USA my date took me out for a farewell dinner. It was a nice dinner and we talked about what I would be doing back home. Hopefully when I get back he will take me out for a welcome back dinner.

Icecream with a slice of pie
