After my visit to Wat Louang. I had to hurry back for a quick breakfast before leaving for the airport. Most of my father’s relatives came to say good bye. There were some tears shed and many request for us to return to Laos in the near future. My parents said they will be back in 2009 in either January or February. The relatives were happy to hear that. They said two years is not so long.

Pakse Airport

Since the airport was less than 5 minutes from the house we were staying, we took our time. My father’s best friend is the director of Pakse Airport so we didn’t have to worry about getting in lines for check in. Once we got there we were taken care of and we sat outside talking with the relatives.

My cousins on Papa’s side of the family also came to the airport. Bay’s younger sister gave me the sinh that I had order to wear with a top she made for me. They wanted me to wear the outfit so much that I went to the restroom and changed. When I came out everyone made a comment how I went to the restroom as a foreigner and came out a Lao person.

Lao Airline

When we had to board the plane my father’s mother was very sad. She wanted to wait until the plane has taken off and wanted to go outside on the runway to watch. We told her she couldn’t do that.

Later, I was surprise to see two of my cousins on the runway as we were boarding the plane. They are my father’s nephews. They stood and waved at us as the plane was taken off. From a distance I saw tears on their eyes. I was speechless when I saw them wiped their faces with their sleeves. I don’t think my father knew how much his relatives care for him.

Goodbye Pakse, until we meet again.

Wat Louang

Author: DJ

After my visit to Champasak Palace Hotel, I went back to Wat Louang for the second time. The first time I was there with my parents was in the late afternoon. We were there for less than 10 minutes since it was busy with other tourists. My parents also were in a hurry to go to the evening market so I didn’t get a chance to take my time and walk around.

I have to confess that I don’t watch much television. But since it’s summer break and with plenty of good Thai drama to watch, I decided to check out a couple of them.

Sai Nam Sam Chee Wit

I read somewhere that Sai Nam Sam Chee Wit (สายน้ำสามชีวิต) was like the best Thai soap of 2006. Weir Sukollawat is one of the actors in this soap. Since I saw him in Pleng Ruk Rim Fang Khong and found him to be a good actor, then why not give Sai Nam Sam Chee Wit a try?

So where were we before the server crashed? I think it is time to finish the series of my visit to Laos.

On my last day in Pakse, I was the first one to get up and wait for uncle Ki to pick me up. I asked him at dinner the night before if he would pick me up at 7:00 AM so I can go check out Champasak Palace Hotel and Wat Louang. It was my second time in Pakse and no one would take me to places that I wanted to go. I didn’t know when the next time I will be in Laos and decided to take action.

a river in Pakse

It was a beautiful morning and a perfect day to take lots of pictures. Here we are waiting for a stop light to turn green so we can cross the bridge. The house next to the river was a place for teenagers to hang out, including my father and many of my relatives in the 1970’s.
