Elephant Parade Rotterdam at Kop van Zuid
Author: DJ30.09.2007
I found more elephants from the Elephant Parade Rotterdam earlier today at Kop van Zuid. I know of this area well since Hotel New York was once a place I often went to for good serving of oysters. It is oysters season at the moment but sadly I have not eaten any since last year before Christmas. That’s another subject to talk about.

The sun was hidden behind the clouds so I didn’t get as nice photos as I wanted. I was hungry and wanted to eat first but Johan said by then the sun would be gone at 18:00 hour. Funny though that after we ate an early dinner and was finished our meal before 18:00 hour, the sun came out again. I was too tired to go back for a second round of photo session with the elephants.

For some reason I thought I would not be able to find the mother and baby elephants in the area since the others were being moved around the city. I was happy to have found Angels Silver elephant which was the number one on my list of elephants to look for. Just look at the Angels Silver elephant and you just might agree with my taste in arts.

I think the Angel elephant looks beautiful; it’s a lot of detail, I’d love to have one sitting in my house. I’m surprised that the Thai artist didn’t try to showcase Jatukarm Ramathep elephant; it’s one of the hottest lucky charms in Thailand at the moment. Very nice find, must be a lot of work to move the elephants around, I guess they want them to see the whole before auctioning them off, or is it the whole town seeing them?

It would be great to have this in your garden if you have a big backyard that is. I think the artists tend to stick to themes that people will understand the concepts. Then again arts is arts so you pretty much can do just about anything.
I think some of the elephants are missing because they have been damaged by some teenagers that like to destroy things for the fun of it.
This could be my last elephant hunt if I can’t find any more of them. I sent some photos to Grand-Mama and hope she will like them.

I think your Grand-Mama (sounds so country Lol.) will like them, they’re different. You remember the cows’ photo from Denver, CO that I posted at the old Laoplanet.net last year, they were very similar to these, but I believe the cows were painted by high school students. You are right, art is art, and sort of universal I think.

Hi there Nye,
I spoke to my cousin Mo yesterday and he told me how they all watched the DVD pictures I sent them of the first and second sets Elephant Parade Rotterdam.
Both houses (two aunts) came together and viewed the photos and made comments about pictures from Rotterdam, Leiden, and my food pictures. My Grand-Mama paid attention to the photos and is happy that I am here to be able to bring them such images. They said not too many people have relatives in the Netherlands.
