This is a third grade World Geography question. Budapest is the capital of what European country? I didn’t know about this show until I saw the clip. I think the host is Jeff Foxworthy since he looks familiar from the HBO Comedy show I’ve seen a few years ago. I didn’t know who the blond girl is and thought she was acting. After doing some search on Google I found out she is Kellie Pickler, a former contestant from American Idol.

I wonder how many Lao-Americans in the US would know the answer to this question. Did we learn anything at all in school or were we just passing through the system?

I didn’t know the answer, good excuse, didn’t attend third grade in the US.  :PI live in the US most of my life but I don’t find that I know more or is better than people in Laos.  Just because we know certain things that we’re accustomed to in the US, we could be very ignorant in certain things in Laos.  I recently met a girl from Laos, a very interesting person to talk to and not once the thought of me being better than her came to mind, what do you use to measure that you are better?

I knew the answer from high school World Geography class if I can recall but also recently from Political Philosophy course since many of the famous Philosophers went to study in Budapest which was well known for academic town at one point in history.

As for the Lao Nork vs Lao Nai I don’t know where you were going with that Laogal. As for me I don’t see Lao Nork doo thook Lao Nai and none of my relatives had told me of anything like that in Laos. I also don’t know Lao people in the US that look down on Lao Nai in particular. I know a few of those Lao in the US that went there in the 70’s and early 80’s that doo thook myself because they thought I was Tai Ban Nork even though I was from Vientiane and my parents were well educated. These people had parents that couldn’t even read and write Lao and from being in the US longer they just thought they were so much better than me. But after one year of being in the US I did better than all of them in school. Of course these people still look down on others Lao that didn’t have as good of a car or as a big of a house as they do even though they have to work three jobs to get themselves a nice car or a bigger home.

But these type of people don’t have the time to think of Laos or take the time to look down at the people of Laos. If they do, then they look down on other Khon Lao, no matter if they are Lao Nork or Lao Nai.

In Laos, I know many people that look down on others or doo thook Khon took or Khon Jon. They even look down on their own brother and sisters that are Lao Nork and Lao Nai. Khon Hung Mee, Khon Lum, Khon Louey, some of them are not nice, whether they are Lao Nai or Lao Nork. People are just people, good and bad everywhere. I am sure you know of the concept of Khon Kee Koui.

Yes, I do know Vienne. As a matter of fact I met him twice in person, the first time in 2004 and the second time last year. Glad you found me via his website.
