Bye Bye Wisdom Teeth
Author: DJA week ago was my 6 months routine check up and cleaning. Then I had a discussion about getting braces again with my dentist. Since I will have a total makeover he ordered a couple of X-ray done, one was a panoramic X-ray, which takes a picture of my whole teeth at once. Afterward the dentist said four of my teeth will have to be extracted to make room for orthodontic treatment. He had extracted two of my wisdom teeth a couple of years ago (upper left and lower left) and had mentioned before how the right side wisdom teeth needed to be removed since they serve no purpose and can be a problem in the future.
Then on Thursday (13th December) I had an appointment with the dentist to extract two of my wisdom teeth and also two additional teeth next to them (lower jaw). I went to lunch at Hema with Johan and ordered a hot dog and a cup of hot chocolate with whip cream to treat myself before the possible painful procedures.

After lunch it was time for some pain. Sitting in the waiting room I gazed outside looking at this church for comfort.

Christmas Spirit
Author: DJLast Saturday I had an appointment with a Travel Doctor for my second shot of Hepatitis A vaccine at Beursplein Shopping Center. The first shot I took was on 12/07/2006 and lasted only one year. Since I will be going to Laos again in the near future it was recommended that I go back for a follow up. It was a year and a day later for the anniversary shot but it was quick and painless for 60 Euros. Not bad since I won’t have to get vaccinated again for this type of vaccine until 25 years from now.

Afterward, Johan took me for my favorite illy coffee and some windows shopping at Bijenkorf Mall. I saw one denim skirt that I like but didn’t buy it since I didn’t really need one at the moment and would rather send my Grand-Mama the money that I could have paid for the skirt. There wasn’t really anything that grab my attention in the entire store except for one black dress (above on the left). When I saw it I was like nice I could wear it. But after I saw the price for 549 Euros I had to walk away. I could feed my Grand-Mama for a few months in Laos for that dress.
Winter Blooms
Author: DJ

I was coming home from school on one late afternoon and smell something in the air. It was a strong fragrance like perfume. Then in the distance I saw something that reminded me of cotton balls. I took a closer look and took some pictures so I can send them to my Grand-Mama. It’s winter time and so cold and windy most of the time so to see something so beautiful like these gave me a big smile. They just want to live and bloom the best they can. ![]()
New Lao Boy Band
Author: DJI was watching Star Light music program from Lao Star TV a few minutes ago and they were showing an MV from a popular boy band in Laos by the name of Happy Boys. I don’t know what music camp they are from and will have to do some checking. This is a video of their concert in Vientiane with the song Phian Yark Hou or I Only Want to Know.
It’s fascinating to watch some of these videos from Laos. The quality is getting better and some of them are as good as Thai music vidos that are currently out on the market. Cheers to Lao music. ![]()
Is Europe a Country?
Author: DJThis is a third grade World Geography question. Budapest is the capital of what European country? I didn’t know about this show until I saw the clip. I think the host is Jeff Foxworthy since he looks familiar from the HBO Comedy show I’ve seen a few years ago. I didn’t know who the blond girl is and thought she was acting. After doing some search on Google I found out she is Kellie Pickler, a former contestant from American Idol.
I wonder how many Lao-Americans in the US would know the answer to this question. Did we learn anything at all in school or were we just passing through the system?
Second Thanksgiving Dinner 2007
Author: DJFor our second Thanksgiving dinner, Johan took me to Restaurant Las Palmas. The restaurant was part of a TV cooking competition show, with winner getting selected as the chef. Viewers across the country witnessed the construction of the restaurant, from start to finish, as well as steps of the training of the contestants and the cooking show downs to the final two. Restaurant Las Palmas opened its doors to the public as the biggest seafood restaurant in the Netherlands a few months ago. The restaurant is on the opposite side of the harbor of Zeezout (Sea Salt) that Johan and I went to for last year’s Thanksgiving dinner.

After an appetizer, then it was caviar and champagne to start a meal with oysters to lead the way.
