Episode 1 of Ray Rai Louk Sao Pa with Alexandra Bounxouei, Cee Siwat, and Nam Rapeepat. So far three episodes have been broadcast since Friday 04. We will have to wait till the next Friday for three more installments of this Thai lakorn series. There are mixed feelings to the role of Ray Rai, played by Alexandra Bounxouei but the final verdict is not out.

I have to confess that I have not seen the three episodes because I didn’t like the character of Ray Rai. She’s too annoying to me and it’s not much different from the type of character that I’ve seen in Viva Orawang (something like that) which I only watched a few episodes because the main character was rather annoying. She often fought pa ek or talking back at him, or daring him from the first minute she met him, just like Ray Rai with Thavanh.

I think Alexandra chose the wrong lakorn to play and it doesn’t suit her at all. I don’t expect her to play the role of Champa all the time with being sweet and proper but the role of Pood Mae Nam Khong would have been better for her. It would have been more challenging but more rewarding because the story line is better than Ray Rai Louk Sao Pa. If Alexandra would have spoken Thai in Ray Rai Louk Sao Pa, then it would have made it more enjoyable for me since I am used to hearing a female Thai characters spoke like that before.

To hear a Lao girl talk like that, which I have never met anyone carrying herself in that manner in real life is rather annoying and unbearable. To hear it in Tai Viengchanh accent is what made it annoying (lum khan). I understand the character of Ray Rai with having brought up without a mother. She has a strong personality and sort of like a Tom Boy, but I have never met a Lao Tom Boy that would speak like that. You can be tough without talking and acting like that. So it was a bad role for her and I don’t like to see Alexandra doing the eyes (tha kung) at Thavanh or other characters. I just couldn’t imagine meeting someone that would behave like that and would find it pleasant and wanting to fall in love with if I was a man.

Of course others would not feel the same as me and I don’t expect anyone to agree with me. Please leave the hate message below. Don’t be too harsh on me though. Even though I don’t watch the lakorn, I still leave the recording on while I’m doing something more important like reading my text books. I only have so much time and have committed myself to one Thai drama already, and that is Nang Tad because it makes me laugh and cry. :)

DJ, be patient please continue to watch Part II and Part III I would like to hear more about your positive criticism, I was skeptical at first but now I am a big fan. I agreed with part of your comments when I watched part I, it was little annoying with that Vientiane accent, I wish she had spoken Thai. But then I continued to watch Part II and Part III It began to sync in and realized that this is really good movie. It has good story line, good music (of course Sandra sings at her best in this Look-Toong style of music), Sandra, Cee and the entire team did well. I watched Nang Tad too and I like that movie a lot, but now I have to admit I like RayRai better. That beating up of Nang-Yen in Nang-Tad is over done.

I know !!! she would sooooooooooo fit pood mae nam kong..and plus her boyfriend is in it too…hahaha just kidding..but yeah every time she says “thop bak sum bor!!” its soo annoying…jeez how many times does she have to say that??? oh and she doesnt have that connection with cee like she did with weir..grr…and im STILL not over the fact that she rejected pood mae nam kong..weir was suppose to be the pa ek for ray rai but khun dang picked cee..grr..oh wellz..haha

    RayRaiFan,

When I have time in a few months maybe I’ll check into it. Like I said I don’t like how the script was written and to hear in Tai Vieng Chanh accent the phrase like “thop bak sum bor” is the first for me. At least the music is good. The ending credit song is Alexandra’s best work so far I think.

I scanned through Nang Tad the old version over the weekend since I already read the summary of it. I am not a fan of Thai lakorn and maybe I’ll watch one or two per year at the most. I usually leave it on while doing something like ironing or folding clothes. As for Ray Rai Louk Sao Pa, it was annoying so I muted the sound so I can iron in peace.

I might scan through the new version of Nang Tad to see the part that I want to watch. The beating is part of life as a slave and yes in history they do get beat up and kill at anytime because they were considered less than animals and it doesn’t matter if you were a slave in Asia or in the west. In reality it was more brutal than what we saw on TV. Stuff like this is still going on in real life at the moment in many parts of the world, even in Thailand.

    Nina,

Yes, the role doesn’t suit her at all. Why can’t the producer filmed Pood Mae Nam Khong first if there was a conflict with the schedule and find some other Thai actress to play the role of Ray Rai. That way Sandra can work on it before going to school. Pood Mae Nam Khong would even be a bigger hit with Weir and Sandra in it.

I agree with you about Cee and Sandra and even with Nam. When I saw the first episode it’s like they are strangers having to talk to one another. There is no connection like with Weir.

We’ll just have to wait for pleng ruk rim fung khong part 2 in 2010…goshh i really hope they pair up again..maybe not right now, but i know someday weir and sandra will pair up again..we’ll just have to wait and see ! *cross my fingers* hehe.

    Hi,

I just wanted to let everyone know that when I first watched the movie, it was hard to see her playing this character.  But after watching a couple more episodes I really thought that she did a good job convincing me and making me believe in the character.  The show actually gets better and better, it’s really intense, and the plot is really good.  Cee is a wonderful actor.  Her character goes through changes as they start to like each other.  Keep watching and I think that you guys will be fans of this show as well.  I am really looking forward to seeing alexandra playing other roles.
