City of bikes

Leiden is no doubt a city of bicyles being a university town and all. To get from point A to B you must have a bike here as a student, unless you want to either walk or take public transportation. I mostly walk and take public transportation because I am not that comfortable with riding a biycle in a crowded area. I am not afraid of getting run over by a car since there are plenty of bike paths to follow. I am more worried about running my bike into a car. Perhpas some day I will fee confident enough to ride on the main streets without fearing of running into anyone.
I am quite fond of bicycles, especially the ones with unique features like extra seating for the little ones. One thing for sure I will never be the one riding with my child if I can’t get to a level that my future husband will trust me enough with his children, LOL.

Do you need a license to ride a bicycle there? I’ve not rode one in so long, I don’t know if I still remember how, I almost forgot how to roller blade, I fell down a couple of time before being able to go straight again (I thought you don’t forget this kind of stuff, but I guess I was wrong.)

No, you don’t need to have a license to ride a bicycle here or a scooter but you have to go under a speed limit. The last time I rode a bike was when I was a little kid in Vientiane and back then I was not even tall enough to sit on the seat of a bicycle and pretty much rode my aunt’s bike standing up. When I had to borrow my uncle’s bike then it was more difficult biking with the bar on top of my right shoulder.
The first time I rode my bike here I had no difficulty at all. It is true that you can’t forget to ride a bike. Roller blade is different I think since you have to have good balance and control, unlike a bicycle which you can always put your feet on the ground.
