A few weeks ago I ventured out on my bike and headed toward Hoek van Holland. It was a nice afternoon, not too warm and not too cold, perfect for biking. There was a nice breeze and I kept pusing myself to get to my destination, the Maeslant Storm Surge Barrier. The last time I visit this place was in the spring of last year.

Hortensia Flowers

Many people here like to grow Hydrangea or Hortensia, especially the old people. You can pretty much buy the plants even in early stage of blooming or full bloom. Hortensia reminds me of Dok Said Tee for some reason and I wonder if I can grow them in Laos. I think my aunts would love to see the bright color of the flowers. I have seen them in white, pink, purple, and even blue. My favorite is the blue type.

Lately I have seen many Chinese restaurants turning to a buffet one in smaller cities beside Amsterdam. It must be a trend to keep up with all these Chinese takeout places or else you would go out of business. For 17.50 Euros you get all you can eat buffet with wok option. I went with a big plate of stir fried shrimps.
