snow in NL

Last Thursday and Friday I woke up to something that was so familiar. For a moment there I thought we would be getting a white Christmas. Whenever I see a little bit of snow it would remind me of years of having to shovel the snow in the driveway and on the street so my parents can drive their cars into the garage. We live on a hill so you can imagine the fun that I had during the winter months of heavy snow. It was a good exercise though, especially when you have to shovel the snow twice daily for hours.

I don’t mind the cold over here that much. So far it has never been as cold as what I am used to back in the US. I was out and walking around on Friday night doing some Christmas shopping and getting some fresh air.

This is what I woke up to on last Friday and again yesterday morning. I didn’t know it could snow like this in the Netherlands. It’s not that bad at all since I am so used to harsh winter in the midwest, USA.

It’s so cold

After dinner, I took a look outside and almost didn’t believe what I was seeing. The entire parking lot is covered with snow. Hopefully the snow will melt tomorrow or else it will be some fun walking around. Well, the bright side of this is that I get to test my new pair of booths (more like three months old). Let’s hope there won’t be any slipping and falling for me.

One nice thing about the Netherlands is that it’s not like back home with more than a foot of snow now and then. I have yet to experience a real winter here. Hmm…take that back since the harsh wind and the cold temperature can really do damage, just like last Thursday. I thought I was going to die after walking for 30 minutes or so.

I have to admit that I was made for warm places. I don’t miss the harsh winter of midwest, USA for one bit. One thing for sure, I would never want to live in any place that has a “real winter” months. Thinking about shoveling snow up to my knees doesn’t make the snow outside look so bad now. Okay, I’m tougher than this and will bundle up nicely tomorrow and take it like a big girl.

A quick note. I decided to make Laocuisine.net a blog site. How much fun will I have blogging at two sites? Anyone wanting to join me at Laocuisine.net is welcome. Well, I have to check your credentials first. :)
